The Bluewater Festival is back! Bigger and Better than Ever

Celebrating Sandgate as the home of Queensland’s premier ocean going yacht race. the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race and our unique lifestyle and heritage, it has been a highlight since Easter 1996 with activities and visitor numbers growing every year.

Aside from a number of lead up events in the week prior to the festival, this Year's Festival Activities at Lower Moora Park, Shorncliffe, will commence with a non-stop program on Good Friday from 8.30am to 8.30pm and Easter Saturday 8.30am until 4pm.

With up to 15 000 visitors annually, the Festival encapsulates the community, commercial, artistic, local heritage, environment, land and water sports events in an atmosphere of celebration and community spirit and highlighting Sandgate’s unique features and events in the program aiming to reach potential visitors
across wider Brisbane and surrounding suburbs on the Bayside.

The Festival benefits a broad range of community members from all age groups and surveys have found that visitors most enjoyed: Entertainment, Food & Wine, Fireworks, Craft Stalls and Foreshore Parkland Venues with visitors intending to return during the week to shop and experience Sandgate’s unique ambience.

2010 will be one of the most exciting collaborative community events yet including; a return of successful events from previous years including Aerial Display, La Promenade – A Community Art Exhibition, The Bluewater Charity Ball & Belle of the Ball, Battle of the Bands; Youth Art Exhibition “Special Gifts”; Water Sport Spectacular, Great Aussie Picnic and Swim, Markets and Food Stalls and a Bayside Breakfast.

On Good Friday, aside from the usual abundance of market stalls, carnival rides for the kids and the firworks for the whole family this year's festival will feature a Battle of the Bands.

Festival Co- Ordinator Warren Atkinson said, with $5,000 in prizemoney up for grabs The Battle should attract some of Brisbane's best bands. Entry details will be available shortly on the Festival's website or you can contact Warren direct on 0417 990 286.
