"Australia's Got Talent" 2009 finalist Davydd McDonald from Brisbane is renowned for his "Red Hot Rhythm" guitar work and being four-time national champion for Irish dance. Davydd will team up with Celtic fiddle player George Jackson to make a dynamic duo, performing a warm up for St Patrick’s Day, at the International Women’s Day event on 14 March at North Lakes Community Centre from 1.30pm to 5pm. Soroptimist International Moreton North is hosting the event at corner of Lakefield Drive and Endeavour Boulevard, North Lakes to raise money for homeless youth at Chameleon House in Redcliffe. Soroptimist president elect Jo Anne Haywood said George Jackson and Davydd McDonald were two exciting young performers. “They present a dynamic performance blending traditional and contemporary fiddle ‘sometimes jaunty and sometimes mournful,’ along with a powerful display of Irish dancing,” she said. “Their explosive live shows have captured audiences from across Australia and New Zealand, since 2007.” Jo Anne said George's innovative and original take on Celtic fiddle has seen him study with some of the great masters abroad. A highlight in 2009 for George was winning the Golden Fiddle Award for youth achievement at the age of 19. The Duo’s first album “Succession” released in 2008 was described as “A contemporary sounding album that maintains a traditional feel - no easy feat.” -NZ Musician Magazine.
