Cameron Smith and Marc Leishman are eyeing Olympic gold after winning the US PGA Tour’s lone team event in dramatic fashion in New Orleans.
- Both teams bogeyed the par-3 17th to head to the par-5 18th tied at 20 under
- The Aussies won with a par on their second trip up the par-5 18th
- The win was Smith third career victory and Leishman’s sixth
The Australians beat South Africa’s third-round leaders Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel with a par on the first play-off hole, capping a tight and tense final round.
Smith and Leishman carded a final-round 70 in the alternate-shot format on Sunday to finish at 20-under 268, along with Oosthuizen and Schwartzel, who shot a 71.
