Boy, 16, dead in motocross race crash in Brisbane
A 16-year-old boy has died in a dirt bike crash during a race in Brisbane.
The boy died after colliding with a fence at Mick Doohan Raceway in Banyo on Monday afternoon.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident has occurred during the Queensland dirt track titles, being held over the long weekend.
Inspector Laurie Shevlin said the incident will have been the “worst nightmare” for the boy’s parents.
He said police do not yet know how the accident occurred, with the coroner to investigate.
“One of the riders has had an accident during that race and he’s come off and unfortunately died,” Shevlin said.
“A very tragic incident and something that nobody would have foreseen.
