Brisbane City Council to introduce family friendly meeting hours
He looked forward introducing family friendly hours for the council as part of a current review of meeting laws.
“It is really important that we support parents in our team with that flexibility,” he said.
“And we want them to be able to participate in the democratic process and everything that we’ve done today indicates that this is what we do. We have introduced this [hybrid] technology, it is working today, and it is a historic day for the city.”
During sitting periods, committee sessions start from 8.30am and ordinary council meetings begin at 2pm but can often extend well into the night.
Further detail of the proposed changes has been sought from the lord mayor’s office.
