Lucky rescue after men left clinging to boat hull off Queensland coast

Four men have been rescued after their boat capsized in waters off Queensland’s coast.

The group activated an emergency beacon after trying to cross the Wide Bay bar, north of the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.

The Coast Guard responded to the incident and found the men clinging to the hull of the 6-metre boat, Tin Can Bay Coast Guard wrote on Facebook.

“After crossing out over the WBB (Wide Bay bar) the CG (Coast Guard) vessel headed south and sighted a smoke flare inshore towards Rainbow beach,” the coast guard said.

“With the survivors on board CR3 attempted to tow the stricken vessel without success, the tow rope parted and it was decided to leave the vessel.”
