Update 1: Man charged with allegedly helping another man flee from custody, Warwick



Stanthorpe police today charged a Broadwater man with aiding a person to escape lawful custody after 28-year-old Clayton Alvoen allegedly assaulted a police officer before fleeing from custody on April 28.

Police will allege Mr Alvoen head butted the officer as he was being escorted from the courthouse to the watch house, and then fled on foot, running back to a nearby parked car.

It will be further alleged that the vehicle, containing two women and one man, then drove Mr Alvoen to bushland just outside of Warwick.

The 26-year-old is due to appear in the Warwick Magistrates Court on May 26.

Investigations are continuing in relation to the two women who were also allegedly present in the vehicle.
